STEM programs, events, and learning opportunities are critical to the development of the next generation of STEM leaders. The absence of STEM resources, programs and events have real consequences for communities. Communities with strong STEM resources tend to be more economically resilient, innovative, and forward-thinking. These opportunities also help prepare the next generation of STEM professionals with the knowledge, motivation, and critical thinking skills needed to address complex challenges and develop innovative solutions.
Students spend only a portion of their time in formal K–12 classrooms, and even less of that time is focused specifically on STEM subjects. As a result, out-of-school-time (OST) programs—such as afterschool initiatives and community events—play a critical role in expanding access to meaningful STEM learning opportunities for all students.
STEM Connection was established to help organizations, afterschool programs, and community agencies develop and implement impactful STEM programs and events. Together, we can strengthen communities by fostering curious learners, critical thinkers, and innovative future leaders.
